Spätestens seit Match Point (2005) bin ich ein Bewunderer der Schauspielkunst von Scarlett Johansson. Sie spielt in dem Melodram (oder ist es ein Thriller?) hochsensibel und treffsicher auf der gesamten Klaviatur von Schuld und Sühne und Glück und Zufall und Liebe und Tod. Johanssons außergewöhnliche Performance kam nicht zuletzt durch die Inspiration und das Encouragement von Woody Allen zustande. Match Point ist einer der besten Filme Allens, wenn nicht sein bester. Scarlett Johansson hat seither noch viele Filme gedreht, in einigen davon ist ihre Ausstrahlung ähnlich intensiv wie in Match Point.

Johanssons Engagement für Entwicklungshilfe und soziale Gerechtigkeit sowie für Umwelt- und Schulprojekte ist seit Jahren bekannt. Hätten wir nicht ohnehin schon lange große Sympathien für sie gehegt, wäre es jetzt so weit gewesen, nach ihrer Rede beim Women’s March in Washington im Anschluss an die Amtseinführung von US-Präsident Trump.

“President Trump, I did not vote for you. That said I respect that you are our president-elect and I want to be able to support you. But first I ask that you support me. Support my sister. Support my mother. Support my best friend and all of our girlfriends. Support the men and women here today that are anxiously awaiting to see how your next moves may drastically affect their lives.”
